Set Up a MetaMask Wallet

MetaMask is available as a browser extension for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Brave, as well as a mobile application for iOS or Android devices.

Browser Extension

  1. Install MetaMask, if you haven’t already
  2. Click on the MetaMask icon (fox head) in your browser’s extension toolbar
  3. Read and agree to MetaMask’s Terms of Use
  4. You’ll now have two options: “Create a new wallet” or “Import an existing wallet”. Choose “Create a new wallet” if this is your first time using MetaMask
  5. You’ll be asked if you want to help improve MetaMask. Select “I agree” to send usage data to MetaMask or “No thanks” if you prefer not to
  6. Create a strong password for your wallet. Remember, MetaMask doesn’t store your password. If you lose it, you can’t recover it
  7. MetaMask will generate a secret recovery phrase. This phrase can be used to recover your wallet, so it’s important to keep it safe
  8. Click on “Reveal Secret Recovery Phrase” and write down the 12 words on a piece of paper
  9. MetaMask will ask you to confirm your Secret Recovery Phrase to ensure you have it correct
  10. Your MetaMask wallet is set up and ready to use
